Byrd is the Word

Don't believe anyone who tells you they expected Paul Byrd to come into Fenway Park today and out pitch Roy Halladay. Granted Halladay has been terrible his last few starts. No complaints though. Nice game today. Quick and victorious.

Fenway, From Up Above

I'm not sure if I can think of a cooler perk of my job than getting to update the aerial photos of the park. Thanks to Mike Peavey, the coolest helicopter pilot I know (okay the only helicopter pilot I know but still) for taking me up and predicting that Thursday would be the best day of the week for it. Check out his IMDB page to see all the movies that he has worked on, it's impressive.

2009 Boston Red Sox Team Photo

Yesterday was team photo day at Fenway Park. Now I can check that off my list and breath a little bit easier. After the shoot I got a chance to go up an a helicopter to update our aerials of the park. Since Tazawa got smoked and the weather was incredible I picked a great day for that.
Those photos coming soon...

Just Like Old Times

My intern Brooks got a killer shot of Ortiz jumping in the pile last night (kudos to him for capitalizing on the situation and my night off). Normally it would bother me to miss a shot like this...and it did at first, but I have a feeling this is going to happen again. Look at his power numbers for the last month-nine long balls and 23 RBI's in the last 30 games. Only Carlos Peña, Mark Reynolds and Prince Fielder have more in that span. Plus, when Ortiz is hitting walk-offs good energy abounds in the clubhouse.
I'm doing the '09 team photo today and I think it's a perfect day for it since I can assume that all the guys will be in a great mood. After the photo I'm going up in a helicopter to shoot aerials of the park (yesterday's trip got canceled due to high humidity levels) so look for those photos tomorrow.

My Kind of Game

Quick. Efficient. With late inning heroics. If only the third base umpire hadn't blocked my photo of Jacoby Ellbury's steal that broke Tommy Harper's record!

The Virtue of Editing Twice

I missed this photo in my initial edit last night...but like it a lot.
Headed up in a helicopter to shoot aerial photos of Fenway during sunset tomorrow night and hoping for another sunset like this one.

Things are Looking UP

Thank you to the Sox 'O for coming alive tonight, especially Mike Lowell. BoSox could really use a sweep of the ChiSox to gain some ground on this Wild Card race...
Still waiting on Jacoby to steal a base and break Tommy Harpers Red Sox record. Tomorrow maybe?

Yankees Look Stupid at Fenway*

Hahahaha the Yankees couldn't do anything right tonight! They suck so bad it is funny.
C.C. Sabathia looked really fat and was just terrible. How embarrassing for the Yankees!

*This is a fictional post, aside from the part about C.C. looking fat. I just really wanted it to go this way. Real post is below.

Sox Take One Off Chin Under the Lights

I guess I was wrong about this one being a pitchers duel. UGH

Oh Happy Day

The Sox 14-1 Win last night was refreshing, especially after the debacle that was Friday night. Sabathia Vs. Beckett tonight may be one of the best pitchers duals of the year...more to come on that soon

Clay Looks Good but Sox "O" can't catch up with Verlander

Damn. Today was PERFECT light at Fenway. All I needed was a little come from behind victory drama to cap off a good day of photography. Alas Verlander was too much for the Sox offense all day and he cruised. I can't understand why Pedroia got the day off today when Youk is already out and the team facing one of the best pitchers in the game. Ah well. Looking forward to a little break from baseball. PATS tonight!

Nice Start for Tazawa

After a rocky first inning Junichi Tazawa settled down pretty nicely last night.
My apologies to anyone who is looking for Youkilis brawl photos as I had come inside for a minute to drop the Tazawa shots when that happened (DOH!). Not that the Red Sox would have any interest in using brawl photos ever...

The front office was not a happy place on Monday, but with two wins in a row people around here have started slowly climbing off the Tobin bridge.

Sox Get Handled in NYC

Even though Posada was out on this particular play I feel like this images sums up last night. That eight-run Yankee fourth inning was brutal. Four hours of baseball when your team is getting spanked is not fun. I hope Beckett can stop this slide tonight!

McCartney at Fenway Park

Hearing Paul McCartney play "Hey Jude" at Fenway on Wednesday was one of the coolest things I have seen at that park so far.

Behind the ball...

Okay, I've been slacking on this blog a little so finally posting some photos from last Thursday's day game against Oakland. It was kind of a sad day because of the news...but I tell you one thing: David Ortiz is still one of the coolest/nicest/funniest ballplayers out there.
More photos to come: Paul McCartney at Fenway tomorrow night , then off to NYC to photograph the Sox/Yanks and get some much needed photos of Victor Martinez and hopefully A-Rod crying like a little b*tch when the ump calls a third strike on him. Those are my favorite! Stay tuned...
